I hiked for 6hrs to Mount Bisoke, Rwanda
This experience is one that will never not be funny to me because why did I, once again, pay to suffer so much that I had to go for a 90 minutes massage afterwards and even took ill. No be juju be this? I’m convinced someone jazzed me. I couldn’t have paid for that trip to Musanze by my own senses.
Anyway, grab your popcorn oooo and get ready to enjoy my story.
I joined a group of friends on a 2 day trip to Musanze, Rwanda. Musanze is located in Northwest Rwanda and is home to mountain gorillas and golden monkeys. It is also known to be surrounded by several mountains and forested volcanoes.
Anyway, back to the gist. Some of my friends and I decided it would be great to hike mount bisoke. Mount Bisoke is one of the eight active volcanoes in the Virunga mountains range of the albertine Rift, located between the borders of Rwanda and Democratic Republic of the Congo. Seeing the lake at the top of the mountain was something we all looked forward to, including me (this was when whoever was jazzing me started chanting my name in a far away unknown forest/village).
The look on that gorilla’s face was a warning that we should go back to the hotel and not pay that $75 but then, I was sold when they told me I was going to see some gorillas lol. We even had some military men escort us with guns to scare those gorillas should they try to harm us.
Before we embarked on the journey, we receoved a few instructions like: no smoking in the park, don’t take anything from the park, don’t leave anything there either and don’t get too friendly with the gorrilas because OYO is your case.
I was definitely searching for gold. I should have gone back to my humble abode but I decided to continue. Why? That person chanting my name intensified their voice so I continued my hike. Kai, I suffered o.
3 hours later, I asked how many more hrs to go Oga? The man said 2 hours at my pace. At my pace???? Okay that’s it. The hold over my life has been destroyed. Let’s be going back to where you people took me from. I no do again because it’s only the living that can hike and go on more adventures in future. Amen?
I can’t wait to share more about my experience in Rwanda, my third home, away from home.
